El Porto Neighborhood
Home to many surfers and beach-lovers, the El Porto neighborhood borders a protected state beach that boasts some of most talked-about waves in the South Bay. The ocean floor features an underwater canyon that generates consistent swells surfers and bodyboarders love.
People often like finding an El Porto home for sale because the area is also one of the only local beaches with a restaurant on the sand, which serves lunch at shaded picnic tables during the summer.
El Porto was renamed several years ago to “North Manhattan,” but the change has yet to really take root because people still associate the neighborhood with its former namesake, El Porto state beach.
