The Strand Real Estate Neighborhood

The Strand is the street closest to the water and is Manhattan Beach’s oceanfront neighborhood, comprised of the bike path, sidewalk and front row of houses along the beach. Those with homes in the Strand frequently see people playing volleyball and riding their bikes through their “front yard.”

If you love the beach and enjoy an active and social lifestyle, pursuing a Strand home for sale is worth it. On the contrary, if solitude and privacy are important to you, this might not be the community for you.

The Strand neighborhood is less than one square mile, and lines the beach from Hermosa Beach to El Segundo. It is, needless to say, the crème of the Manhattan Beach crop. Some notable celebrities, sports stars and Hollywood types have homes on The Strand and it’s not uncommon to spot them in this part of town.

Homes in The Strand are Manhattan Beach’s priciest real estate, comparable in size to those in the Hill Section, but as close to the beach as a house can possibly get. Strand homes for sale typically fetch anywhere from $5,000,000 to $15,000,000.

The sheer size of some of the homes in the community makes it hard to believe they are actually single-family units. Most Strand homes are modern-looking mansions, with carefully landscaped yards and plenty of outdoor furniture for entertaining. These homes have been carefully curated for phenomenal beachside living. Most are several stories high; and all levels offer unblockable, panoramic ocean views.

Despite its multimillion-dollar real estate, The Strand still fits into the beach community mentality. For those who crave gorgeous beachside living and all it has to offer, it doesn’t get better than The Strand.

Life In The Strand Section Community

Residents of the Strand community often sit on their patios, enjoying the sun, watching the ocean, and waving to the people biking or jogging past. The Strand is a destination neighborhood in itself—a favorite place for locals and tourists alike to stroll, exercise, and drink in the Manhattan Beach views.

Most Strand community residents are middle-aged professionals, who live in Manhattan Beach to enjoy its superior location and remain within easy driving distance of both the Los Angeles International Airport and downtown L.A.

Their kids attend Grand View Elementary or Robinson Elementary in the neighborhood, both of which are California Distinguished schools that provide students with a top-notch education.

The Strand Section Amenities

The Strand Section’s most notable amenity is Manhattan Beach itself, but the community has more to offer beyond the sun, sand, and surf.

The Strand community is easy walking distance of downtown Manhattan Beach, with its gourmet eateries, one-of-a-kind neighborhood boutiques, and specialty shops. Downtown has a dynamic energy with plenty to do, providing Strand residents with endless hours of entertainment and social opportunities.

The Marvin Braude Bike Trail runs the length of The Strand, providing a leisurely commuting path throughout the community. Homeowners can use the trail to travel across the beach, between The Strand’s only restaurant on the beach, local shops, beach volleyball courts, the Manhattan Beach Pier, and beyond.

The Manhattan Beach Pier is a 928-foot-long fishing pier, which has been historically recognized as the oldest reinforced concrete pier that remains on the West Coast. The Roundhouse Aquarium rests at the end of the pier, offering an exciting glimpse at the animals living in the ocean beyond.
